Merry Christmas!
December 22, 2023
Merry Christmas! I hope you are able to spend time with your friends and family in the week ahead and celebrate the holiday season!
Working to Address USPS Delays
Have you had a package delayed at the Oak Creek USPS processing center? You are not alone. My office has received complaints that packages are being held up at the USPS Oak Creek processing center for up to several weeks. As a result, holiday packages are not being delivered in a timely manner during the busy holiday season. Despite investing in new equipment, the problem has persisted. I have reached out to the Post Master General and requested immediate attention to permanently solve this bottleneck.
During the holiday season, it is more important than ever that packages are delivered in a timely manner. I’m working to get to the bottom of the issue.
President Biden Visits Milwaukee
This week, President Biden stopped by Milwaukee. The president focused his remarks on how the economy in Wisconsin is doing. I spoke to Bloomberg about what is going well and what needs to change to allow families to afford the things they need. Inflation has made everything 17% more expensive in just three years.
We need to get to work and change course in Washington to lower costs for families. Watch my interview for more!
Honoring our Health Care Heroes
Southeast Wisconsin is home to more than 17,000 health care workers. Each year, I make it a priority to honor health care workers who go above and beyond in serving our community. This week, I had the privilege of recognizing Michelle of Bristol as a health care hero.
Michelle is an ER nurse at Froedtert South in Pleasant Prairie. Michelle’s colleagues describe her as a patient, kind, and dedicated nurse who goes the extra mile for her patients. Thanks for all you do for our community, Michelle!
Greendale High School Students Win the Congressional App Challenge
Each year, students across the country participate in the Congressional App Challenge. The goal of the competition is to encourage middle and high school students to learn how to code by creating their own apps. Since 2013, the challenge has highlighted the value of computer science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education.
This year, I recognized Greendale High School students Evie, Cole, Ari, and Ava as the winners of Wisconsin’s First Congressional District App Challenge! Their app, Playground Quest, will be displayed in the Capitol. Congrats on all your hard work!
On Wisconsin,
Bryan Steil Member of Congress
