Friend, As 2023 comes to an end, I’m reflecting on all we have accomplished for Iowans this year. I’ve been to all 22 counties in the district at least four times this year, met with families, veterans, small businesses, and farmers to hear about their challenges and their successes and learn how I can help. My team closed 3,481 constituent cases this year – helping Iowans get back money they are owed by the IRS, collecting missing social security and veterans benefits, bringing Iowans home safely from Israel, and reuniting families by securing passports. My team has responded to over 28,000 constituents who wrote to my office, and we are going to keep these conversations going in the new year. I approached this year with one mission: make D.C. run more like Iowa and enact policies that connect rural communities, improve safety and security for Iowa families, and protect taxpayers – because it is your money, not the government’s money. Watch my end-of-year recap video here. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together in 2023, and I can’t wait to build on these successes with you in the new year. Best, Workforce Innovation and Empowerment Package America’s workers are our greatest asset as we work to strengthen our economy and compete with China, but outdated policies are holding everyone back. Rather than pushing four-year degrees, we should provide pathways to success in the trades and empower workers to excel in their chosen fields. This week, I introduced my Workforce Innovation and Empowerment package that will help the next generation of American workers gain the skills necessary for in-demand, high-paying jobs and foster meaningful opportunities in the 21st century economy. My legislative package includes: The BEST Act: legislation that provides a tax credit for employers that maintain a qualified training program for employees who are not seeking a college degree, empowering skilled workers to advance in their careers and strengthen our workforce. The Workforce Solutions Act: legislation to identify barriers to new career paths in the energy and manufacturing sectors to help workers prepare to take on new opportunities in these dynamic fields. The REAL Trucking Act: legislation to enable 18-20-year-olds to obtain Commercial Drivers Licenses for interstate travel. This week, I stopped by manufacturing companies in the district to hear from their teams and discuss my legislation that will create new opportunities for Iowa workers. Check out my stops below! XL Specialized Trailers I visited XL Specialized Trailers in Manchester to discuss ways we can empower manufacturing workers so they can grow in their field and take on new opportunities in Iowa! Timberline Manufacturing It was great to stop by Timberline Manufacturing!
