Allan Henderson, a Vietnam veteran, started volunteering with CVA many years ago. He wasn’t content to sit at home and watch the country he fought for go in the wrong direction. Instead, he continued his service by sharing his experiences and vision for a freer country.
Allan could be found making phone calls in his community to talk about veterans' issues or in Austin advocating directly to lawmakers. He was a force to be reckoned with.
He, his wife Beverly, and his daughter Sharina, became family to CVA, especially with our staff and volunteers in West Texas.
Allan passed away earlier this year, but he left a legacy of service that is central to what we believe at CVA – veterans have so much more to give after serving in uniform. We just need the opportunity.
As we venture into 2024, the spirit of continued service and love for this country will guide everything we do.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of this mission, for being an Allan Henderson in your own community, and for continuing to serve your country. You are what makes this organization and this nation special.
All of us at CVA wish you a merry Christmas, a wonderful holiday season, and a happy New Year.
