Rep. Katie Porter saved countless lives by forcing the CDC to promise free
coronavirus testing to all Americans.

But Rep. Porter represents a red-leaning district and is one of the
Republican Party’s #1 targets in Congress.

In last week's open primary, Katie beat the combined votes of the
Republican candidates by less than 1% -- and the Republican she’ll face in
November will have tens of millions of dollars behind him.

Courage California is launching one of the biggest text message and social
media "get out the vote" campaigns ever to keep Katie Porter where we need
her: fighting for us in Congress.

Last week, Rep. Porter made headlines with her powerful questioning of CDC
Director Robert Redfield. She did the math, showing that coronavirus
testing could cost more than $1,300 out of pocket, and if we’re going to
truly contain the virus, we need testing to be free. And she trapped
Redfield into admitting that the CDC had the authority to provide that
free testing.(1)

Rep. Porter showed the kind of courageous leadership we desperately need
in Congress right now.

Although she’s only been in Congress for less than two years, Rep. Porter
has already gained a reputation for taking Wall Street and Big Pharma to
task with laser-sharp questioning -- and getting results. She came to
Congress to fight on behalf of the American people, and that’s exactly
what she’s doing.

But Katie is facing one of the toughest reelection races in the country.
Her district has consistently voted Republican.(2) She faces a well-funded
Republican opponent.(3,4) One of the richest conservative super PACs ran
attack ads against Rep. Porter in 2018, and they’re sure to do it
again.(5)
