As the holiday season approaches, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the warmth and generosity that define this special time of year.

Here at Independent, we work hard to apply independent thinking to issues that matter. Our goal has always been to create transformational ideas for today’s most pressing social and economic challenges.

Few would deny that today, one of the most crucial and frustrating issues we face—as a nation and as individuals—is the devastating and heartbreaking issue of homelessness.

At the heart of the homelessness epidemic are human lives. An intervention must be staged to save their lives, save our cities, and provide a model of hope for people across the nation.

Will you join us in making this season brighter for people experiencing homelessness, and for the cities blighted by urban crime and decay, this year?

We take seriously our important role at the forefront of the homelessness issue.

But the truth is that without your support, our work on this issue would go nowhere.

I’m delighted to share that, thanks to your generosity and shared passion, the Independent Institute was able to organize and co-host a landmark convening of the leaders of some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s key civic organizations.

We spent our time brainstorming solutions to homelessness and its attendant issues. Participants ranged from key business associations to grassroots activist organizations. It was amazing to see the shared commitment to devising private sector-led initiatives!

This coalition is just one example of how we’re working around the clock to unlock a better future for cities and individuals experiencing homelessness this year. Our mission is to extend compassion, not enable destructive behavior, and advance solutions with leaders across the political spectrum.
