Last week, to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we asked you to share your stories about why you’re part of the movement for nonhuman animal rights.
Your responses blew us away: some of you shared touching personal stories on how you connect with nonhuman animals in your life. Others pointed to the logic and scientific evidence that supports the case for nonhuman rights. Many of you shared your hopes and wishes for our clients, envisioning a future where they no longer have to suffer through exploitation. We were touched by all of your responses, and wanted to share a selection of our favorites… |
We must recognize all beings, and that includes all furry, feathered, finned, scales, wings, hooves, huge or small, as a member of the whole community that has the right to live and be respected for what they are. That each is entitled to the basic necessities to live according to their habitat and natural resources. We coexist with everyone and each has a role to fulfill. All beings deserve to be treated kindly and with compassion and never to be subjected to abuse, violence and be exterminated. We must all share in our collective effort to assist a diverse life by the understanding of inclusivity. It is not an option but a duty to fellow citizens of the world.

I have always loved elephants and as I grew into adulthood, I really began to understand them so much more. I vowed to never attend another circus or any other venue wherein animals are treated so inhumanely! It broke my heart to see them being chained up like prisoners, some taken away from their mothers when they were just babies! This must not continue and I will do all I can to prevent it and advocate for them! Thank you for understanding how vital your help is needed to leave them in the wild where they were meant to be! They need us as do all endangered wildlife, now more than ever!

Your tireless work inspires me. Your advocacy over many years for elephants and chimpanzees, as well as other animals makes this world a better place. I only wish things would move faster for the animals, that they will gain the respect they deserve and that they gain their autonomy sooner. No animal should be incarcerated no matter their intelligence. I can only pray that in less than 10 years the world will be a better place for the animals and humans start to realize just what it is they are doing to sentient beings. We can never stop fighting for the animals.
