Hi John,

Have you ever been called too ambitious? Too bossy? Too much?

You know, and I know, that people who try to tear us down with words like that are really saying something else. So I’ll take those as compliments, because I also know what they mean: Too strong. Too brave. Too ready to put up a fight. And I’ll tell you something else— this is a moment that needs those qualities more than ever.

What happens next year at the ballot box, in the courts, and in the halls of Congress will impact the future of gender justice for years to come. Support NWLC in the crucial fights on the horizon—right now every gift will be matched, up to $150,000, until December 31. [[link removed]]

I support the National Women's Law Center as a board member because for over 50 years, they have been working for a more just, equitable world for all—especially women of color, LGBTQIA+ people, and low-income women and families. As lawyers, researchers, and advocates, they’ve channeled every bit of their own ambition and determination into some of the toughest fights to protect abortion access, stop sexual harassment, defend trans students, and more.

As a lawyer myself, I understand firsthand what a powerful tool the law can be, and NWLC knows how to use it.

While states across the country have been implementing draconian abortion restrictions in the wake of the Dobbs decision, the Law Center has been busy too—launching the Abortion Access Legal Defense Fund, a crucial legal support system for patients and abortion allies targeted by dangerous new laws. On behalf of our client, who was denied emergency abortion care that she desperately needed after her water broke at 18 weeks of pregnancy, NWLC attorneys filed complaints with the Biden administration claiming that those hospitals violated federal laws that protect access to abortion in medical emergencies. Those complaints resulted in the first EVER (!!!) federal enforcement action against hospitals for denying emergency abortion care following Dobbs , sending a clear message to hospitals nationwide that they must provide the emergency care patients need, regardless of state abortion laws.

Your support makes critical, life-changing legal work like this possible. Will you join me with a tax-deductible $5 gift right now, while your dollars go twice as far? [[link removed]]

John, I have two daughters. I want them to grow up in a world where they can make the reproductive choices that are right for them, without politicians getting in the way. Where they will earn the same pay any man earns for the same work. Where they know they are safe at school, and that their gender or identity won’t make them a target. NWLC is building that future through grassroots activism, groundbreaking research, and taking on the difficult, necessary legal fights that will protect and expand our rights now, and into the future.

I am so proud to support them in this work, and I hope you are too. If you can, please make your matched, year-end donation now. [[link removed]]

Wishing you a safe, healthy, and brave new year,
