Each year, the team at Her Bold Move puts together a wish list for the coming year and beyond. We’d like to share some of our wishes with you:

✨ We wish for a better experience for women in America.

For many women in our country, life is not easy. There are issues women deal with that their male counterparts (and male representatives in office) simply don’t need to consider. Things like violence against women, sexual harassment, affordable childcare, menopause… and, of course, reproductive healthcare.

When men make up the majority in the rooms where important decisions are being made, women’s issues are not given adequate attention. We need more women in office. We need more women’s voices in these important conversations.

Which brings us to our second wish…

✨ We wish for gender parity in every room where important decisions are being made.

In states across the country, majority-male GOP legislatures (led by male GOP governors) are passing draconian laws that discount women’s health, safety, and rights to bodily autonomy. Earlier this month, a Texas mother was forced to ask a judge for permission to terminate her desperately-wanted pregnancy due to life-threatening complications. A male lawyer defended the state’s position NOT to grant this mother the abortion, a female judge ruled in her favor, and the state’s male attorney general immediately overruled the judge’s decision. If he had gotten his way, this mother could have died…

The vast majority of the people making critical decisions about women’s bodies are MEN.
That needs to change right away – and that’s why we at Her Bold Move exist.

Women are starkly underrepresented: 73% of U.S. Representatives are male. We are on a mission to change that.

✨ We wish to see the values of American citizens reflected in our laws – especially as they pertain to abortion access.

The majority of Americans believe in a woman’s right to choose. As we saw in November, when the right to abortion is on the ballot, it wins every time.

However, leaders across the country are still passing abortion bans. This is not what a functional democracy looks like. We need to replace each and every one of these anti-choice legislators with pro-democracy WOMEN who will serve as an earnest representative voice for their constituents.

✨ We wish for all good things in 2024 and beyond.

It goes without saying: We have a lot of work to do. The year 2024 will be a make-or-break election year, and it’s critical that we have all of the resources we need to support our candidates.
