Dear Friends,
From my family to yours, I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas. In this season of peace, hope, and joy, let us all reflect on the blessings we have in our lives.
While there is much to be grateful for, I have been hearing from many of you on two important issues recently. First, I share the frustrations of many that with a $17.5 billion surplus, Democrats passed $10 billion in taxes to pay for their wasteful government spending, including a $730 million renovation to the State Office Building. Spending three-quarters of a billion dollars on a palace for politicians is an egregious waste of your hard-earned tax dollars. We need to ?stop the dig? until we can have a more robust discussion of all the options available to have functional, not elaborate, offices for the Minnesota House of Representatives.
This week, the State Emblems Redesign Commission finalized the new design for the state flag. On the right, you can see a side-by-side of the old and new flag and seal designs. This redesign process has taken place too quickly and with not enough public input on the final design. If the legislature does not act next session to block the adoption of the new flag and seal, these emblems will be implemented on May 11, Statehood Day.
I want to thank you all for the honor of being your representative at the Capitol. I look forward to working for you when the new legislative session begins on February 12. Please don?t hesitate to reach out to me with your thoughts, concerns, and ideas on any issue relating to state government.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
