John,
The coronavirus pandemic is certainly frightening.
We all have concerns for our own and loved ones’ health and wellbeing during this time -- but there are steps we can take together to lessen the risk of spreading the virus.
By following these precautions set out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ([link removed]) , we can reduce the chances of spreading and contracting coronavirus:
-Avoid close contact with people who are sick
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
-Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue into the trash
-Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
-Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the bathroom; before eating; or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
It’s on each and every one of us to follow the procedures set out by medical professionals at this time -- we need to keep each other and ourselves safe.
Visit the Iowa Department of Public Health’s website for information during this time >> [link removed]
While we might see only a few cases in Iowa for the time being, we should still follow health and safety measures to mitigate the risk of coronavirus spreading among our communities.
Stay safe, Iowa. We are resilient, and we’ll make it through this together.
