Dear John,
As 2023 comes to a close, Australians have well and truly earned a holiday.
In politics, it’s been a busy year which was dominated by the debate over introducing an indigenous voice to Parliament in the Constitution.
The referendum, which is estimated to have cost taxpayers $450 million, divided Australia when much more important issues deserved greater priority.
The overwhelming ‘no’ vote on 14 October signalled the start of a bad time for the Albanese Labor government. Its failure to anticipate High Court decisions saw the release of at least 140 dangerous criminals into the community including murderers and sex offenders. People smugglers also got the signal that Labor was weak on border control, with a boat reaching the Australian mainland in November.
The critical issues facing most Australians every day received some attention, but it became clear Labor had no real plan or intention to address the housing and rental crisis, or the rising costs of living and doing business. Its policies are having the opposite effect, making things worse.
Australians are wising up to Anthony Albanese, with polls showing diminished support for the Labor government about halfway through its term.
One Nation will carry the fight to Labor’s door in 2024, standing up for Australians’ freedoms on key issues like digital identification and the ‘misinformation and disinformation’ bill, standing for equality in areas like indigenous relations and family law, and always fighting to protect the values that made this country great.
We wish all our members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
