But just last week, news broke that abortion and the right to life are heading back to the High Court. Now is the time to pray and act!

This new case involves chemical abortions, which consist of a two-pill regimen intended to expel the unborn child from the mother's womb (usually at home and with very little medical oversight).

Tragically, thanks to the Biden administration pursuing expansion of chemical abortion at any cost -- with no regard for health outcomes for women and certainly not for children -- the usage of these pills is at an all-time high.

When the abortion pill was legalized in 2000, the Clinton administration (which no one would mistake as being pro-life) instituted a drug safety protocol to ensure that a pregnant woman must see a health care provider in person before the dangerous pill regimen was prescribed.

"Chemical abortion is a multi-day process that involves heavy bleeding and cramping," says FRC pro-life expert Mary Szoch. "It also carries life-threatening risks to the woman."

But the Biden administration used the COVID pandemic as an excuse to set aside safety protocols in April 2021. It allowed abortion pills to be distributed through the mail after a telemed appointment. That change was recently made permanent (a key concern in the current Supreme Court case).

Even that radical policy shift -- making do-it-yourself abortions increasingly the norm -- was not enough for the abortion lobby, particularly in the wake of the Dobbs decision.

Earlier this year, the Food and Drug Administration under President Biden issued a rule change that allowed certified retail pharmacies to sell chemical abortion drugs to women with a prescription. CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid have opted to seek certification to sell these drugs, which would essentially turn your neighborhood pharmacies into abortion businesses!

FRC has played a key role in leading a coalition of 14 pro-life groups to push back. Together we sent a letter to the CEOs, advising them of the many problems their companies will face if they continue down this grisly path.

A group of state attorneys general also contacted the companies, outlining legal implications if they try to skirt pro-life state laws.

FRC, together with our legislative affiliate FRC Action, launched a petition campaign, collecting over 51,500 signatures from FRC constituents urging the leadership of the Walgreens Boots Alliance pharmacy chain not to allow their pharmacies to act as de facto abortion facilities.

With all the scrutiny, Walgreens finally responded, saying they do not intend to sell abortion drugs at stores located in pro-life states and they do not intend to send these drugs through the mail. While officials at Walgreens noted the process to be certified is ongoing, they stated that the concerns of the pro-life coalition will be considered as things advance.

It's not a full victory yet, but a significant first step.

In an April article, even The New York Times acknowledged that three to five percent of women who take the abortion pill end up needing surgical intervention. To put it another way, that's between one in 20 to 33 women who use abortion pills will need surgery.

The FDA and the abortion lobby must answer to the evidence. And, in a time when voters are weighing critical issues, Americans need to be educated on the value of life.
