John — Last week, MAGA House Republicans voted to officially begin their sham impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
So far, they’ve presented zero evidence of any wrongdoing by the President.
They’re doing it anyway – to appease Donald Trump – plain and simple.
I took my role seriously as the lead impeachment manager in the first trial against Donald Trump in 2019. I followed the rule of law and my oath of office while investigating the former president’s high crimes — extorting Ukraine by withholding much-needed military aid in the fight against the Russian invaders, by conditioning that aid on a political investigation smearing Joe Biden.
Likewise in the second impeachment, the evidence of Trump’s efforts to overturn the election, and his incitement of insurrection, were plain for all to see.
Flashforward to last week: House Republicans have launched an impeachment inquiry into President Biden with no evidence.
It’s a partisan stunt, just like the censure vote against me earlier this year.
It’s a tactic to uplift Donald Trump’s campaign, to go after his political rivals, and to dilute the stain of Trump’s multiple impeachments and indictments.
One of my Republican colleagues was asked about the impeachment inquiry. His response? “Donald J. Trump 2024, Baby!”
John, they have no shame. In 2015, Kevin McCarthy admitted the Benghazi investigation was meant to drag down Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers. Today, they’re running the exact same playbook.
Unfortunately for Trump and his enablers in Congress, I will not stay quiet while they move forward with this sham impeachment inquiry. I will hold them to account, just as I have before.
