Hey there,

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has become a global pandemic, and I want you to know that I’m doing everything I can to keep our communities here in Montana and across the country safe.

I’m fighting to make sure vulnerable Montanas have access to information about test kits, proper protection, and ways to stay healthy. I’ve introduced legislation in the Senate to guarantee free testing and I’m working to extend the IRS tax filing deadline. I’m also pressuring health departments to ensure that our veterans and Tribes have proper access to resources as well.

This outbreak is serious and I know this is a difficult time for many. What’s worse is Mitch McConnell’s refusal to vote swiftly on a bill that would help American families nationwide.

Last week, the House passed the bipartisan Families First Act to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Rather than allowing us to vote on this bill over the weekend, McConnell decided to take a few days off.

This bill would expand unemployment benefits, SNAP and child nutrition programs, emergency funding for Medicaid, and aid to hospital workers. But instead of working to get this done over the weekend, Mitch McConnell sent everyone home. That’s unacceptable.

Make no mistake: these are not normal times and we need to act swiftly. We must immediately come together to get to work for everyday families and pass this legislation they deserve.

If you’re with me, sign my petition demanding Mitch McConnell allow a vote on the Families First Act to protect our families from the Coronavirus pandemic.
