Dear Arlingtonians,

Late last night, we released new information on how the County Government will be delivering services to keep you and our community healthy and safe.

While we will be making changes to some programs and services, we will continue to operate essential government services for our residents and businesses. Click on the blue button just below and scroll down the press release to learn more about public safety, parks and community centers, and to get your questions answered:

Also, I want to share with you my request that you do not go to bars or restaurants, except to pick up food as absolutely necessary. Going at this time, even if young and healthy, is a risk that is not fully responsible in keeping all of us safe, in my view.

Also, I would encourage seniors above 60 and those with medical conditions to stay home. I know you feel strong as the seniors in my life do not like losing social interaction, but this is so critically important for your safety. Listen to the Doctors, as they are scientists.

I know many of you are concerned. Turn your concern into ideas and positive action. Contribute to the above effort to help low income students. I watched Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood on Saturday night, which I recommend. Go for a walk outside away from others. Read a book. I am reading Letters from Obama, which you can get online.

With your children, please be very, very careful with respect to playgroups as they are not likely a good idea for now. See the article below. As one scientist in the Post put it yesterday, we must seek truth as if our lives and the lives of others depend on it.

I hope this is helpful: let me know if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions.
