John,
The primary role of the government is to invest in safe and healthy communities where people can thrive. Our democracy provides the structure to debate our ideas on how to best achieve this goal.
Those pushing — or enabling — the chaos of an extremist agenda are undermining this role of government. They are dangerous to our democracy.
The right-wing extremist House Speaker Mike Johnson is pushing anti-democracy, anti-abortion, anti-labor, and anti-LQBTQ+ policies. (Even Trump calls him “MAGA Mike.”) He is dangerous.
And that’s why Lori Chavez-DeRemer is dangerous.
During the 2022 Republican primary, Chavez-DeRemer boasted of her extremist policies. Knowing her views are out of step with most Oregonians, her communications staff is managing her to make her sound moderate.
She’s no moderate.
She talks about bipartisanship while voting for extremism. She voted to elect Mike Johnson as Speaker. She voted for an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, despite no evidence. (No surprise given that she refuses to acknowledge Biden was duly elected.) Is that why she refuses to hold in-person town halls?
Right-wing extremists are creating chaos rather than building community because they offer no solutions for the challenges Americans are facing — not for working people, not for seniors, not for veterans, and not for students. Chavez-DeRemer is in lock-step with their agenda.
That’s why we must defeat her next year.
Let’s work together to get Congress back to its job of building safe and healthy communities.
Can you invest in our campaign for accountable leadership? Any contribution is greatly appreciated and makes a huge difference as we approach our final fundraising deadline before the new year.
Thank you so much,
Jamie
