KDS Awards Crime Boss Trophy at City Council Meeting

It is Keep Dallas Safe’s mission to expose mismanagement and hold Dallas city leaders accountable, so we thought Councilman Gracey deserved to be publicly recognized for his failures to keep his constituents safe.

At the latest City Council meeting, KDS Executive Director Jake Colglazier presented an unofficial Crime Boss award to Councilman Zarin Gracey to highlight his second time receiving the title from The Dallas Express newspaper.

Every month, The Dallas Express awards the title of Crime Boss to the council member whose district experienced the greatest increase in crime over the previous year.

Gracey’s District 3 saw a staggering 41.3% Crime Score increase from November 2022 to November 2023. This is Gracey’s second time receiving the Crime Boss title in a mere three months.

Several factors contributed to District 3’s Crime Score increase, including a 59.1% increase in burglary, a 35.6% increase in assault, and an unnerving 75% increase in motor vehicle theft.

If Councilman Gracey and the rest of the City Council truly wish to stop the rise in crime and violence, they need to use our tax dollars to hire more police. Dallas Police Department (DPD) needs to go from 3,000 to 4,000 officers as soon as possible.

We named this camp in Paul Ridley’s District 14 “After School Camp.” We have covered this camp located outside of Booker T Washington High School, and it is still there. Who can be comfortable with their kids going to school in Dallas when vagrants are allowed to set up camp right outside?

District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno's 

"Nightlife Camp"

This camp in Jesse Moreno’s District 2 has been dubbed “Nightlife Camp.” This camp in Deep Ellum represents the average nightlife experience in Dallas these days. You can’t go anywhere in Dallas without being accosted by vagrants! Local restaurants and businesses suffer when the city enables the willfully homeless!

District 10 Councilwoman Kathy Stewart's

"Squatter Camp"

This camp in Kathy Stewart’s District 10 has earned the title “Squatter Camp.” There is an advertisement on this empty lot, but who would want to buy or lease land with vagrants squatting on it? Vagrancy affects property values, but what recourse do residents and businesses have when the City Council continues to enable those vagrants?

Mission Statement:

Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
