Hi friend, it's Don Davis,
I just wanted to follow up with you after my recent announcement that I will run again for re-election in 2024. It is no secret that significant changes have taken place following the outcomes of redistricting. Although this undeniably impacted North Carolina's First Congressional District, I decided to remain in the fight because we are all in for eastern North Carolina.
So, what does all of this mean? Let's break this down. The current 7-7 split of Republicans and Democrats in the North Carolina Congressional Delegation will become only one of two possible outcomes in the next general election. From a recent WRAL piece: "The new congressional map is drawn in a way that all but guarantees Republicans to win at least 10 and possibly 11 of North Carolina's 14 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives." Republicans are poised to take at least 10 congressional seats in North Carolina in 2024.
The only unknown? The only uncertainty? The only "toss-up"? North Carolina's First Congressional District. NC-01. The people of eastern North Carolina.
Our path to victory will be challenging. Still, with incredibly dedicated supporters like you who share a deep love and passion for democracy and America and serve those who have long been underserved, we will not allow the number 10 to become an 11.
If Democrats hope to flip the House blue in '24, we must secure additional Democratic wins across the country and simultaneously safeguard the seats that require our collective protection. We cannot do addition with subtraction.
That is what is at stake here, friend.
We are all in, so will you be all in, too?
Don Davis
