Important update, John:

Last weekend, the U.S. House passed bipartisan legislation to provide relief to workers and families across the United States in response to the growing coronavirus pandemic.

While this bill may not be perfect, it will make a BIG difference in supporting those struggling in light of this virus. The Families First CoronaVirus Response Act includes:

  • Emergency paid sick leave for workers and their families impacted by the virus;
  • Free testing for COVID-19 for those suspected of having it;
  • $1 billion for states to expand unemployment benefits for those who lose their jobs due to the outbreak;
  • $1.15 billion for food banks and other food aid for seniors and low-income families.

With grocery store shelves emptied, countless people unable to find or afford the basic necessities they need, workers worried about losing their jobs or missing a paycheck because they’re sick, we need this relief ASAP.

The only problem is, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell won’t bring the bill up for a vote until the end of this week after taking a recess this past weekend. Even President Trump has said he’s ready to sign this bill into law – so why are Senate Republicans putting it on hold?

Time is of the essence -- Americans cannot wait.

If you agree we need those in power to pass relief in response to the coronavirus now, add your name to our petition calling on the Senate to pass this legislation ASAP >>
