Across Maryland and the country, our daily life is being
transformed as we all take necessary measures to try to slow the
spread of the coronavirus.
While the president continues to downplay the seriousness of the
situation, federal agencies, states and local governments are
working to address the crisis. The Congress passed a bipartisan
$8.3 billion package of emergency measures ten days ago, and the
House has now passed an additional measure to ensure free
testing, additional funds for unemployment insurance, expanded
food assistance and emergency provisions for paid sick leave.
While the House-passed bill is not perfect, it is imperative that
the Senate pass it today. Time is of the essence.
Americans need to be reassured immediately that they can stay
home to stop the spread of the virus without worrying about their
ability to pay bills and other expenses.
Sign on now to demand the Senate act TODAY to pass the Families
First Coronavirus Response Act.

The Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans rejected
a provision to require large employers -- those with over 500
employees -- to provide emergency paid sick leave for their
employees. That must change. Congress needs to pass another
measure to plug that loophole. In the meantime, these large
employers not covered by the legislation should commit to provide
adequate paid sick leave and other protections to ALL their
employees.
Sign now to insist that the Senate and House pass additional
legislation to require large employers to provide emergency paid
sick leave for their employees.
