This month, I introduced the Fight Book Bans Act, a direct attack against DeSantis’ censorship in schools. It’ll give school districts the funding to fight back when extremists like DeSantis try to ban books, control libraries, or otherwise mess with our students’ education.
Because let’s be clear: Book bans aren’t just about the books. They’re an assault against our freedom. They hide necessary truths. But with this bill, and the support of Andrea Salinas, we’re making sure Black, brown, Hispanic, and LGBTQ+ stories get told.

School boards, school districts, and students are on the frontlines of this war on education. But Andrea and I refuse to let fascists and Republican extremists erase the history of communities of color, or silence the voices of marginalized identities.
