John,

With the outbreak of COVID-19 in Washington state and across the country, we know this is a time of great uncertainty. Kim's top priority is making sure the people of WA-08 are safe and healthy, and she's working to make sure our families have the resources and information they need.

Two COVID-19 response bills that were introduced by Kim passed out of the House on Saturday as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act package. The first bill, No Cost for COVID-19 Testing Act would create a federally required standard that insurance companies cover the cost of testing for this virus. The second, the MEALs Act would provide states greater flexibility to administer child nutrition programs. Click here to learn more about these bills.

Last week, Kim appeared on Washington Journal on C-SPAN to discuss this outbreak and the questions we still need answered so we can best protect our families. Watch the interview here. Kim believes our response should address the economic circumstances our families face, with many people not being able to work or send their children to school. Hear her discuss this, and more, in her interview with KNKX.

Kim is continuing to monitor the situation closely and doing everything she can to address this crisis.

Please remember to follow the CDC's prevention tips and continue to look out for one another. If you have any more questions, call the Washington State Department of Health's call center at 1-800-525-0127.

Thanks,

Team Schrier
