Dear john,
Today, I announced $4,000,000 in federal funding for rail safety improvements in Laredo.
This federal grant is provided through the Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program (CRISI), funded by the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a law I helped pass in 2021.
Laredo is the nation’s #1 port of entry, and railroads are crucial to transporting goods entering from Mexico across the United States. I’m pleased to see the City of Laredo and Canadian Pacific Kansas City putting these federal dollars to good use by enhancing safety and reliability on existing routes and rerouting outdated lines to improve vehicle congestion downtown.
In Congress, I will continue fighting to improve our infrastructure in South Texas.
