Friend,

Because the welfare of our community and our country is at the heart of everything we do, AAI has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Awards on April 15 in response to the Coronavirus pandemic and the CDC guidance on gatherings of more than 50 people.

As you know, the Gibran Awards is our only fundraising event of the year and the financial impact of this cancellation will be difficult to overcome. That is why we hope we can count on your support now.

It is a critical time for our community and the challenges are unprecedented. Without your support, AAI will be forced to cut much needed programming protecting and advancing Arab American rights and liberties.

Your commitment makes important campaigns like AAI’s landmark voter engagement effort, #YallaVote, our 2020 Census outreach campaign, #YallaCountMeIn, and our Palestine Is advocacy effort possible. These programs are protecting our civil liberties and making sure Arab Americans are heard, while AAI’s groundbreaking anti-hate crime work is helping to improve our country's hate crime reporting and data collection. This is a significant amount of work and yet, it’s only part of what we do on a daily basis.

We ask that you contribute whatever you can now, so that we may continue our mission of bettering our country and empowering Arab Americans.

Our work has never been more important and we will not let anything impede our progress. You have our word.

Maya
