*Reflecting on the Significance of Human Rights Month*
Universal Human Rights Month is celebrated every year in December. This year, the United Nations is promoting a year-long campaign to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. This declaration underscores the inalienable rights that every individual should enjoy, aligning seamlessly with the essence of our work at DSHS.

We are drawing close to the end of 2023. With the coming of winter, many of us will celebrate various cultural celebrations and holidays that are important to us and our friends and families. Often during this time of the year, the Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened and Speech Disabled communities deal with a phenomenon known as Dinner Table Syndrome. If you will be gathering this holiday season with loved ones who have hearing loss, we encourage you to read the attached article on Dinner Table Syndrome to learn what you can do to reduce the impact of isolation on your loved ones.
