Dear IDP community,

We’ve spent December talking about our accomplishments ([link removed]) , the themes of our work ([link removed]) , and celebrating our successes ([link removed]) , but behind the scenes, we’re focused on what 2024 will bring. The planning might surprise you.

Our strategies contemplate every election outcome, including how we challenge former President Trump’s plans to create mass detention camps for immigrants ([link removed]) . But we’re also figuring out what to do if Biden wins again. The current administration has not delivered everything we hoped and the pressure on Democrats to compromise with those who want extreme xenophobic policies in place is tremendous. There is so much work to be done to protect immigrants even before we learn our 2025 fate.

Right now, Democrats in congress are contemplating ([link removed]) undermining asylum rights, expanding fast track deportations, and increasing money for surveillance and immigration arrests. Ensuring elected leaders are held accountable to immigrant communities and that immigrants have the tools they need to remain with their loved ones will be essential in 2024.

** Will you chip in to protect immigrants in 2024? ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

At IDP, when we say “no human should be treated as disposable,” we mean that we have to break the pipelines to immigrant detention and deportation, create systems that are fair, and support communities for real stability and safety. To achieve this, we need sustained effort for both the moments of intense attack, like during the Trump administration, and also for the moments that test our resolve, when immigration is not on every front page and the pressure to toss immigrant justice aside heats up.

Right now, you can help us get the funding we need to carry this work through 2024. ([link removed]) IDP’s work helps keep immigrants with their loved ones, clear pathways to status protecting people from deportation, and ensures that even people previously targeted by the criminal legal system can be eligible for citizenship, all while laying the foundation for a fair and just immigration system in the future.

A generous donor has pledged $125,000 if we can raise $50,000 by December 31. So far, 90 people have made a tax-deductible donation to help us reach our goal, can you join us?
