Council aervices over Christmas and New YEar

Libraries

Libraries in Bulwell, Clifton, Hyson Green, Central Library and Wollaton will be open on selected days over the Christmas period.

All other libraries will be closed from Christmas Eve to Monday 2 January 2023. Note that some libraries have a closed day on Tuesday and will reopen on Wednesday 3 January instead.

Heritage sites

Wollaton Park is open each day between 9am-4pm. Wollaton Hall will be closed Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. See here for more information on Wollaton Hall and Deer Park opening times.

Newstead Abbey (Including park and gardens) is closed on Christmas Day. On all other days, grounds open 10am to 4pm, house 11am to 4pm, Café and toilets 10am to 4pm. Last entry is 3pm for each.

Nottingham Castle will be closed Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year’s day. The Castle will be open 11 am – 4 pm (last entry 3 pm) on Christmas eve and New Year’s eve. See here for more information on Nottingham Castle opening times.

Green’s Windmill is closed 23 December, Christmas Eve, Christmas day, Boxing day, New Year’s day and 2 January. More details are here.


Parks

All parks are open every day, including Christmas Day.

Nottingham City Parks will be open over Christmas and New Year. Weekends and bank holiday opening times will be 9am-4.30pm. 

On-site car parking may be restricted at some sites on Christmas Day.

All of our leisure centres will close on Christmas Day and Boxing Day as well as New Year’s Day.

Bin collections

Monday 25 December bins will be collected on Saturday 23 December

Tuesday 26 December bins will be collected on Wednesday 27 December

Wednesday 27 December bins will be collected on Thursday 28 December

Thursday 28 December bins will be collected on Friday 29 December

Friday 29 December bins will be collected on Saturday 30 December

Monday 1 January bins will be collected on Tuesday 2 January

Tuesday 2 January bins will be collected on Wednesday 3 January

Wednesday 3 January bins will be collected on Thursday 4 January

Thursday 4 January bins will be collected on Friday 5 January

Friday 5 January bins will be collected on Saturday 6 January

Bin collections changes over Christmas and New Year 2023

Recycling

Bookings are now open for residents to get their real Christmas tree collected and recycled for just £5 post Christmas.

Please remove all decorations and lights from your tree beforehand nottinghamcity.gov.uk/xmastree
