Dear John,
When last polled, only 17% of Texas school districts offered comprehensive
sex education, with the rest offering abstinence only instruction, or
nothing at all.
Adolescents and young adults are curious about sex. If their questions
aren’t answered through education, they’ll instead turn to their
friends and the Internet, where incorrect, incomplete, and potentially
harmful information abounds. That’s especially concerning, given that 50%
of high school juniors and 67% of
seniors in Texas report they’ve been sexually active, according to the
CDC.
NOT TEACHING ABOUT SEX ISN’T KEEPING ADOLESCENTS FROM HAVING IT.
Our kids want to TALK ABOUT IT. Shouldn't we?
