COP failed. We won’t.`

Hello John

"COP28 is the fossil fuel industry’s dream outcome, because it looks like progress, but isn’t" - Professor Mike Berners-Lee

It’s been a busy December. As part of the Climate Justice Coalition, we came out for a global day of action in nearly 300 cities in 52 countries. We urged world leaders at COP to swiftly and equitably phase out fossil fuels, embracing a clean energy transition. This should not be a radical demand. But they made a deal which is vague, weak, and easy to get out of.

This isn't the first failure - far from it. Eight years ago, world leaders set a target for the world to get no hotter than 1.5C. Keeping temperatures below this level is now impossible. If you’re still waiting for your government to face the climate crisis, now might be the time to stop.

But what’s the alternative? You are. There is nothing more powerful than each of us claiming our power, together. Join an action or volunteer with XR UK.

Here’s an action you can take from home, right now. Make the charts a tool for change this Christmas. Show that the climate and ecological emergency matters to you by making the climate anthem “We Tried” a Christmas Number 1.

It costs just 59p. Buy the song before midnight tonight for it to be counted towards the charts.

Love, Rage and a Happy XRmas!
