Welcome to our December wrap-up newsletter, It has been a busy month here in Washington, D.C. If you would like to stay updated on what I'm doing each week, I encourage you to check out my Facebook and Twitter! If you need help with a federal agency, such as the VA, IRS, or Social Security, please call my office at the numbers listed below so we can get to work on your behalf! | Rep. Barry Moore Member of Congress | Condemning the rise in antisemitism around the world | Earlier this month, I voted in support of H.Res.894, a resolution condemning the rise in antisemitism in the United States and around the world. Now more than ever, we must condemn antisemitism and reaffirm our support for the Jewish community at home and abroad. | Protecting Alabama's small business owners | I voted in favor of S.J. Res.32, a joint Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval regarding a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) rule. This backwards rule puts small business owners at risk of having their private information compromised and bankers at risk by forcing them to ask questions that violate customers' privacy. Additional burdens on small businesses like these nonsensical reporting requirements are the last thing they need when they’re already struggling to keep their doors open due to Biden's failed policies. | Opposing the NDAA that funds Biden's extreme policies | This past month, I opposed the conference report to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024. This version of the NDAA forces American taxpayers to fund abortion travel, sex reassignment surgeries, a one-year reauthorization of FISA with no reforms, which allows weaponized government to spy on Americans, and critical race theory initiatives teaching that our nation's enemies are not abroad, but within our own citizens and military. | Preserving Americans choice in vehicle | Earlier this month, I voted in favor of H.R. 4468, the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act, to stop President Biden's agenda to force Americans to drive electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are more expensive, less reliable, and charging stations in many states are few and far between. Americans should be able to choose what type of vehicle they want to purchase without interference from the federal government. | Challenging restrictions on civilian firearm export licenses | The Biden Administration's decision to pause the issuance of export licenses for firearms, related components, and ammunition punishes law-abiding citizens and gives criminals a monopoly on the market. That's why I recently co-sponsored the Protect American Gun Exporters Act. This bill stops the current export license pause and prevents the Department of Commerce from taking any substantially similar actions in the future unless standard rulemaking procedures are followed. | Opposing liberals buy now and pay later agenda | Earlier this month, I opposed H.R.5378, the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act. I support the effort to lower costs for patients and employers by requiring health insurers and pharmacy benefit managers to disclose negotiated drug rebates and discounts, but no one is truly saving money with legislation that adds $11 billion to the deficit over the next two years. Congress cannot continue to 'buy now and pay later' when our country is $34 trillion in debt. | Defending Alabama's cabinet manufacturers | This month, I had the opportunity to join Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) in co-leading a letter to Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo expressing concerns about domestic cabinet workers facing competition from unfairly traded Chinese merchandise being moved through Malaysia and Vietnam to undermine existing countervailing duties and anti-dumping orders. Cabinet manufacturers employ 250,000 Americans and thousands of Alabamans. I appreciate Rep. Sewell for joining me in ensuring a fair and transparent certification process is implemented, as well as the continued enforcement of countervailing duties and anti-dumping orders to level the playing field and combat China's unfair trading practices, so that our American and Alabama cabinet manufacturers can thrive. | Supporting the formal impeachment inquiry of President Biden | This month, I voted in support of H.Res.918, which would authorize a formal impeachment inquiry of President Biden. House Republicans are following the facts wherever they lead us, and House Republicans aren't interested in playing politics -- we want to protect our country. I look forward to working with Chairman Jordan on the Judiciary Committee to continue to examine the evidence of President Biden’s alleged abuse of power. | Alabama's second congressional district photo contest | So many of you have shared beautiful photos of landmarks, landscapes, and people across our district with me over the years. I want you to have the chance to share those photos with everyone! My office is holding an AL-02 photo contest. Every couple of weeks, we will ask for photos from a county in the Second District to be shared with us via email at [email protected].
