Recently released 2018-2022 American Community Survey estimates [ [link removed] ] show that 78.3% of the nation age 5 and older spoke only English at home.

Among those that spoke a language other than English, Spanish (61.1%), Chinese (5.1%), and Tagalog (2.5%) were the three most spoken languages at home.

America Counts U.S. Poverty Rate Varies by Age Groups [ [link removed] ]

In 2022, the child poverty rate [ [link removed] ] was 16.3%, 3.7 percentage points higher than the overall rate. The poverty rate among those age 65 and over was 10.9%, 1.6 percentage points lower than the overall rate.

America Counts - How County Poverty Rates Changed From 2013-2017 to 2018-2022 [ [link removed] ]

American Community Survey data released on December 7 show that the poverty rate significantly decreased [ [link removed] ] in more than one-third of U.S. counties during the 2018-2022 period. Of the 1,042 counties that had lower poverty rates, 466 were in the South.
