Dear Friend,

Last week marked the last legislative week for Congress in 2023. This past year many historical events transpired in the House of Representatives, and I am proud of the work my conservative colleagues and I achieved in the 118th Congress.

Below is a list of several key achievements we accomplished throughout the year.

  • House Republicans passed H.R. 5; the Parents Bill of Rights, which showed our commitment to restoring parental rights in their children's education.
  • House Republicans heard your concerns about rising energy costs and passed H.R. 1; the Lower Energy Cost Act, which would repeal many of the burdensome regulations the Biden Administration imposed on the energy sector and would restore America's energy independence.
  • House Republicans persuaded our Democrats in the House, Senate, and White House to support overturning Washington D.C.'s failed crime bill which put criminals first and law-abiding citizens last.
  • House Republicans showed America we are taking border security seriously by-passing H.R. 2; the Secure the Border Act -- the strongest border security bill to be passed in recent history.
  • When our greatest ally in the Middle East, Israel, was attacked, House Republicans swiftly passed emergency appropriations to send critical military aid to Israel. If passed by the Senate, this aid would be funded by money the Biden Administration set aside to hire an additional 80,000 IRS agents.

These are just a few examples of the many successes we achieved this past year. I look forward to working with my colleagues to deliver even more results for the American people and my constituents in Maryland's First Congressional District in 2024.

District Updates

Harford County Telephone Town Hall

Last Wednesday, I hosted a telephone town hall with more than 60,000 constituents in Harford County and the Upper Eastern Shore region. We discussed a variety of issues ranging from border security and Ukraine funding to rising crime in Baltimore City and our national debt. Thank you to everyone who participated in the event, and I look forward to hosting more telephone town halls in other regions of the district in the near future.

Casework Statistics

Throughout the year, my dedicated staff has worked diligently to address the needs of the residents in the 1st Congressional District. If you don't receive an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, our office may be able to help resolve the problem. While we cannot guarantee a certain outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response.

This past year, my team was able to resolve many federal agency issues for my constituents. Below is a brief breakdown of just a few different casework services we provide and the results we achieved.

In The News

National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)

As you may know, the House of Representatives recently voted to pass the NDAA for fiscal year 2024. As a Navy Veteran, I know firsthand the importance of needing a strong military to protect Americans at home and abroad. Having a strong military allows for a strong America and I take my vote for the NDAA very seriously.

Unfortunately, I had to vote against this year's NDAA because it failed to strengthen our military and instead allowed radical woke policies, such as funding transgender surgeries and allowing drag queen shows on military bases to continue. As a Navy Veteran, I fail to see how these policies strengthen our military and increase military readiness.

On Sunday, I sat down with Fox 5 DC to speak about my vote.
