Assistant Secretary General at the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, in relation to the Youth Climate Justice Fund, and changes being made in light of recent public health advice.

Dear Mary,


I hope that you and all your colleagues and counterparts in Ireland’s national youth organisations are keeping well in these difficult and unprecedented times.


I am emailing you in relation to the opening of the Youth Climate Justice Fund which, as you know, is scheduled to open to applications today.


The Minister will open the Fund to applications today and my colleagues will email each organisation with details of the circular, the application form and the supporting video. This will ensure that organisations have the opportunity to use the present time to deliberate on and develop suitable projects which could be progressed later in the year. However, we would be grateful if you please could use and share the emailed materials in a manner which acknowledges the importance of adhering to public health advice at all times, eg. co-ordinating or consulting on projects via Skype or email rather than in person. We would also wish to emphasise that the video was filmed prior to the current social distancing advice.


Presently, the key timeline for the fund is as follows, although we will, of course, be keeping this under review as matters progress over the coming weeks.


• 16th March 2020 – Launch of Youth Climate Justice Fund

• May 2020 – Deadline for Applications

• Dec 2020 – Outcomes Conference led by young people


I would greatly appreciate if you could please circulate this email to all of the national youth organisations.
