Budget + Updates from Harrisburg
|
Last Wednesday in Harrisburg, I cast my vote to finalize our budget and deliver crucial investments to our schools, state infrastructure, and Pennsylvania initiatives. I’m proud of the investments that Pennsylvania House Democrats advocated for and achieved during this budget process, including a $567 million increase to education and a $46 million to special education. We also allocated money to provide universal free breakfast in schools, established a Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program, and created a School Environmental Repairs Program.
School Districts in the 150th Legislative District are expected to receive:
- $8.6M for Methacton SD (9.3% increase)
- $24.7M for Norristown Area SD (17.2% increase)
- $8.2M for Perkiomen Valley SD (8.6% increase)
- $13.6M for Spring-Ford SD (11.5% increase)
Throughout the Budget, House Democrats secured crucial investments and tax credits to help working families and spur economic growth. We secured an increase to the Pennsylvania Child and Dependent Care Enhancement Tax Credit to amount to 100% of their federal credit, appropriated $7.5 million for Indigent Defense and $40 million for Violence Intervention and Prevention grants, and provided a $9.7 million increase to State Veteran Homes.
