Action Update: Stop the deadly deal
Dear John,

Earlier today, I watched my colleague and TakeAction Minnesota’s Executive Director, Elianne Farhat, get arrested at an action in Washington D.C. – along with civic leaders from Minnesota other states who represent thousands of Americans across religion, geography, race, and immigration status.

Elianne and I joined this action because our elected officials to step up. An overwhelming majority of people in the U.S. – 66 percent – want Congress to act for a Ceasefire in Palestine. But instead of swiftly doing what’s right, Congress is debating a bill that would send billions to Israel to fund genocide in Gaza and cause irrevocable harm to immigrants and migrants in the U.S. and at our borders. I'm proud to share that since our protest, the bill has been delayed. While we've been part of slowing it down, this deadly deal is still on the table.

Send a message to Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith now. Remind them that we didn’t send them to D.C. to write blank checks for this war and to perpetuate violence in Gaza and here at home. [[link removed]]

Every Tuesday since the 2023 election, I’ve joined with TakeAction members and volunteers to call Minnesotans and talk to them about standing up for a Ceasefire. Overwhelmingly, we've found that Minnesotans are with us.

I never thought my safety as an American Jew would be used as justification to fund a genocide of Palestinians. Though the anger and sadness I’ve felt about that, it’s been heartening to see Minnesotans organizing in solidarity across race and religion to demand peace. Just this past weekend Ceasefire Carolers [[link removed]] lifted up their voices to move Senator Amy Klobuchar ([[link removed]])and last month Rabbi Jessica Rosenberg courageously called on President Joe Biden to deliver a ceasefire. While Minnesotans are standing up for peace across the state and demanding a ceasefire, our senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith have yet to stand up for peace.
Use your voice to demand our elected leaders stop using our public tax dollars to fund genocide and violence and instead invest in our lives. [[link removed]]

In solidarity,
Walter Fromm
