Before wrapping up legislative business for 2023, last week House Republicans passed important legislation. First and foremost, we voted to pass H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act for FY '24, which has gone to the President’s desk. The NDAA provides for the largest pay raise for our servicemembers in 20 years, bolsters our military readiness, and strengthens our national security.
We also passed H.R. 2365, the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act, which will help us in the fight against Parkinson’s disease.
House Republicans also unanimously voted to formalize the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden – a critical step in our investigation process to hold the Biden family accountable.
This year, I was proud to sponsor and co-sponsor legislation that protects patients, supports small businesses, and provides more opportunity for hardworking Americans.
I sponsored H.R. 2940, the PASTEUR Act, which would establish a program to develop antimicrobial innovations targeting the most challenging pathogens and most threatening infections. We must have the proper preventative tools to protect against the public health, economic, and national security threats of antimicrobial resistance.
I also sponsored H.R. 3906, the Rural Opportunity Zone and Investment Act. This bill will bring more investment to our rural communities and make the American Dream more attainable.
I co-sponsored H.R. 1691, the Ensuring Patient Access to Critical Breakthrough Products Act. This important piece of legislation will ensure patients get the access they need to life-saving medical devices.
I look forward to returning in the new year and getting to work on some of our most pressing issues, like securing our border and getting our fiscal house in order.
