Affordable, accessible healthcare is a right that I will FIGHT FOR. View in browser

John,

Last week my mom Trudy emailed you from our campaign email account.

She was given a heart wrenching diagnosis after she had gone to the doctor for some unusual symptoms: that’s when we found out she had breast cancer, which apparently had gone undetected for years.

Hers is not a story of medical malpractice—it is about the flawed system of healthcare that we have in this country that puts industry profits over patient care and quality of life.

My father has been a small business owner and entrepreneur for most of my life. Before the Affordable Care Act, it was impossible for people like him to obtain health insurance. As a result, while they both juggled work and the demands of raising a family, years would go by where they did not have access to preventative healthcare. During one of those periods, my mom’s cancer went undetected.

I love my mom and am so proud of who she is and what she has done with her life. She is my best friend. She is a courageous woman who inspires me to be my best self, always. While she continues to battle cancer, I will never stop fighting to improve healthcare—for her, for you and your family, for all of us.

A sad fact about healthcare in America is that my mom’s story is not unique—millions of us suffer, often needlessly, because corporate lobbyists, the pharmaceutical industry, and massive insurance companies have consistently thwarted major reforms in Congress.

The Affordable Care Act was a step in the right direction, and gave access to people like my mom and dad in ways that they never dreamed possible, but it is not enough.

There is so much more that we need to do to ensure that healthcare is recognized as a human right in this country. We can save lives and prevent unnecessary tragedy and hardship, like my mother and I are working through together.

But we cannot accept the status quo as a fact of life—we have to come together and fight for a better system, and to create a more perfect union that helps EVERYONE live a happy, fulfilling life.

For my mom, and for every single one of us who knows what it is like to experience loss or to have to fight for your lives, I pledge to do everything I can to win this campaign and go to Washington to solve problems and get things done for US.

Your support is truly the only way that we can be successful. Politicians like Jim Jordan will never work for us: they are only out for themselves. But Jordan is weak and vulnerable right now, and I am asking if you would support my work with a contribution of $25, $50 or more today:

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Donate another amount or multiply your impact with a monthly contribution!

Together, we will make change in November and win this election and save America.

Sincerely,

-Tamie Wilson
