As COVID-19 continues to spread rapidly across New York, our government must ensure immigrants have access to testing, treatment, and support.

Dear John,
All of us—including New York’s 4.5 million immigrants—face an urgent crisis that could reshape our world as we know it. We have a plan for how we can unite and respond—but we need your help.
As COVID-19 continues to spread rapidly across New York, it’s urgent that our government ensures every New Yorker can keep their families safe and secure. New York’s immigrants are on the front lines of this crisis—many immigrants are simply unable to “work from home,” are in danger of being laid-off, and are frightened because of the public charge rule ([link removed]) of taking advantage of the testing and health care that can keep them safe. But many of the policies our electeds are enacting simply don’t take immigrants into account.
So we’re launching our “New York United ([link removed]) ” campaign today, to make sure our electeds pass policies and enact measures that meet the needs of all New Yorkers, including our 4.5 million immigrants. We’re calling for free COVID-19 testing and treatment for all New Yorkers, regardless of status; multilingual COVID-19 hotlines and resources to make sure everyone knows the latest updates; the suspension of ALL immigration enforcement activities; and emergency economic support for all workers—including immigrants impacted by the virus—among others. Read more about our demands here ([link removed]) .
In the interest of the health and safety of our staff and our communities, we’ve temporarily closed our offices. But we haven’t stopped fighting—which is why we’re moving our organizing efforts online and asking you to join our digital campaign.
Sign up today for action alerts to mobilize with us:
Text "NYIC" to 52886 for updates in English, or text “ACCION” to 52886 for updates in Spanish.
We’re going to ask you to work with us to take action THIS WEEK —so please see our full list of demands here ([link removed]) —and be ready to take action THIS week!
All New Yorkers are at risk during these uncertain times—we must work together to ensure that New York stands united, and that each and every New Yorker, regardless of immigration status, is protected and receives the care and support they need to keep their families healthy and safe.
Thank you—and stay tuned for the launch of our special coronavirus emergency response fund!
In community,
Steve Choi
Executive Director
