Wow. What an amazing year it has been. Thanks to your support, 2023 has been a good year here at COWS. We released important publications, supported policy makers in pursuing the high road with training, webinars, convenings and direct technical support. We work hard to be both practical and visionary in our approach to strengthening equity, sustainability, and democracy in all that we do. Your support of this project is a key part of our success.

Just Wrapped: PFAS Mayors Roundtable

The Mayors Innovation Project ([link removed]) recently cohosted a successful virtual roundtable session with Mayor Katie Rosenberg of Wausau, WI, focused on addressing challenges related to PFAS contamination. The session, held on December 14, covered current efforts and potential solutions, and technical assistance offerings provided by the Water Center at the University of Pennsylvania.

ProGov21 ([link removed]) 's December roadmap introduces best practices and strategies for collecting and managing high-quality information. Local governments function more effectively and waste less when they are informed by relevant local data. However, becoming a truly "smart" city requires more than purchasing new gadgets and expert advice. To maximize the benefits of information technology and data analytics, local governments and communities must effectively integrate them into their infrastructure, governance systems, and culture.
