Friend,

There is a global push underway to force a cease-fire so that Gaza can be spared further mass suffering at the hands of an Israeli military onslaught that has killed nearly 20,000 people — including 8,000 children — in just over two months.

The world's top humanitarian organizations say that the human suffering in Gaza is more devastating than anything they've witnessed in decades of relief work. UNICEF put out a plea to the world this morning, urging an end to the “constant bombing” and restrictions on lifesaving aid because children in the besieged enclave have “barely a drop” of water to drink.

Our coverage here at Common Dreams during the unprecedented level of violence and destruction in Gaza — amounting to what many scholars and experts say is genocide — has been focused on the humanitarian crisis and the worldwide push for diplomacy and peace.

So what does it mean to have a news organization that serves the common good, human decency, and peace for all people? It means having journalists who wake up every day ready to provide readers with facts on the ground while also giving voice to aid workers, peace activists, vulnerable civilians struggling to survive, and policy experts who want to see an end to human suffering — not more war, violence, death, and destruction.

Journalism with a mission dedicated to the common good — and funded solely by people like you who believe in a more peaceful world — means you get coverage that CNN, MSNBC, BBC, Fox News, and other corporate news outlets refuse to offer.

It is the kind of coverage that does not equivocate on human rights and does not give quarter to those who use horrific acts of terrorism by one military faction to justify war crimes against a civilian population with no place to run.

If you support journalism that values all human lives and condemns all war crimes — including those committed by the U.S. and Israel — please support our End-of-Year Campaign today. Without you, we simply wouldn’t exist.
