Dear Friends,

In 2023, NRCAT supported local and national efforts to sustain a moral call for the closure of the Guantánamo Bay detention center. NRCAT coordinated with national and local organizations to support monthly Close Guantánamo vigils across the country on the first Wednesday of each month. We supplied “Close Guantanamo” banners to dedicated local interfaith peace and justice advocates like the Peacemakers of Schoharie County in upstate New York (pictured above).

During NRCAT’s year-end matching gift campaign, Rising Together for Human Rights, I invite you to donate to NRCAT to enable this important witness to continue into the new year.

NRCAT provides critical action alerts for faith advocates to call on the Biden Administration to transfer those who remain detained and are cleared for release. 30 Muslim men are currently detained in the detention center at Guantánamo Bay and 19 of these men have never been charged with a crime. 16 of them have been cleared for transfer, some for nearly a decade.

Your donation today will support local and national advocacy and vigils on January 11th, 2024, the 22nd anniversary of the opening of the Guantánamo Bay detention center. If you would like resources for a vigil in your community or for us to advertise or co-sponsor and event, please email me.

In community,

Rev. T.C. Morrow
Director of Finance and Operations

PS - Your donation today will be matched dollar for dollar as a part of NRCAT’s year-end matching gift fundraising campaign, thanks to our generous donors, bolstering these on-going public vigils and federal advocacy to close Guantanamo. Each dollar donated will help us reach our Challenge Match of $40,000.
