Trump just thanked a “fake elector” for trying to override Nevada’s election results and called his treatment “unfair.”

The man who is likely to be the Republican presidential nominee is once again, openly supporting people who tried to overthrow our democracy.

We wish we could say this was surprising. Trump has supported a number of anti-democratic actions since 2020, so why would he stop now? The problem now is we’ve got another election on the horizon, and dozens of Republican candidates around the country are emboldened by his rhetoric.

There’s no question the GOP will try anything they can to secure a Trump election – including overturning election results. In case you need a refresher: after Trump's loss in 2020, six Republicans signed certificates falsely stating that Trump won Nevada. The scheme involving several battleground states was an attempt to create a pretext for Trump to remain president despite his loss.

They were deliberately trying to overwrite the will of the voters. That’s a crime worth holding accountable, folks, and step one is ensuring none of Trump's cronies win in 2024.
