John,
The Colorado Supreme Court just ruled in our favor and barred Donald Trump from the Colorado ballot!
This is a monumental win for our democracy.
We sued to enforce Trump’s constitutional disqualification under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment in September. A month ago, after hearing from numerous witnesses and reviewing reams of evidence, a district court judge ruled Trump incited insurrection, but stopped short of disqualifying him from the ballot.
Today, the Colorado Supreme Court affirmed that the Constitution means what it says: anyone—including the president—who engaged in insurrection after taking an oath to support the Constitution is barred from holding office again.
Because of our lawsuit, brought on behalf of six Republican and unaffiliated voters, Donald Trump is not allowed on the ballot in Colorado. We’re still waiting for a decision from the Colorado Supreme Court in our 14th Amendment lawsuit against Donald Trump.
We look forward to ensuring that this vitally important ruling stands. Can you make a donation today to help us keep up the momentum and defend this win?

Since January 6th, Trump has only doubled down on his violent rhetoric, threats, and election denial. Our democracy is in peril—there’s no doubt about that—but this ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court puts up a real guardrail against his attacks.
This is the biggest win in CREW’s history, and it is not an exaggeration to say that this is an unprecedented legal victory in the history of our country.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment was put in place following the Civil War to defend the country against those who tried to overthrow it. We asked courts to apply that 150-year-old provision, which we believe was designed for exactly the moment in which we find ourselves, to the January 6th insurrection, and we succeeded.
I’ll have more to say about this in the coming days, but for now: I could not be more proud of what CREW and our partners accomplished—with your support.
Thank you!
