Welcome to the most unusual of times. According to the media, the world is ending. This is the worst it's ever been. As of this writing, there have been 3,782 confirmed cases of Covid-19, or coronavirus, in the nation (116 in Florida), resulting in 69 fatalities (4 in Florida). This, according to the media, is as bad is it can possibly get, far outstripping the Obama-era 2009 swine flu outbreak that saw 80 million Americans infected and approximately 13,000 dead. Isn't an unbiased media a wonderful thing?
President Trump is being derided as a "dictator." At the same time he is being mocked for not using his powers to take over state government functions and control private industry. Which is it?
The PROPER authorities, NIAID (Nat'l Inst. for Allergies and Infectious Diseases) and CDC (Centers for Disease Control) are issuing guidelines, and limiting gatherings larger than 50 people.
With that in mind, the Indian River County Republican Executive Committee regrets to announce that in order to conform with the above guidelines, and in order to safeguard the health and well-being of our guests, members, friends, and family, tonight's scheduled Lincoln Day Dinner has been CANCELED. Further information will be forthcoming from the appropriate sources.
