When I was sworn in on January 7, 2023, I had no idea what my first year as a U.S. Representative would be like. When I stepped into the Capitol, I was in awe of the history that I would soon get to be a part of. I may have rolled into DC on my Harley motorcycle, but I knew when it was time to put on a suit and respect tradition. I ran for office to end the lack of respect our lawmakers had shown – a lack of respect for the duty to the Americans we serve, a lack of respect to the Constitution our Founders laid out for us, and a lack of respect for our country. Being elected to Congress confirmed every suspicion I had about Washington, DC. But at every opportunity I got, I spoke out against the status quo because that’s what I promised I’d do and what I was elected to do. What happened next was just as predictable as the dysfunction: The Left tried to cancel, silence, and smear me in hopes that I’d finally give up and let the corruption continue. I’m a Ret. Navy SEAL Senior Chief, so that didn’t scare me in the slightest. |
The establishment thought I was a typical politician whose values could change for a $3,300 check or because a poll showed my beliefs aren’t popular. Here’s who I am: - I’m a former Navy SEAL.
- I’m 100% Conservative.
- I’m a Christian.
- I don’t have an Ivy League degree.
My beliefs didn’t change because I got on a plane and left my rural district. In fact, my favorite days at work are when I’m back talking to sane people who don’t believe Biden when he says that prices are lower than ever. Sane people who thank me for respecting the sanctity of the U.S. Capitol even when the Republican establishment attacked me for it. This is who I am, and if you don’t like it, I’m not going to change. If I’m not your cup of tea (or rather, your pint of beer), then thanks for giving me a chance. However, if your values sound a lot like mine, I could really use $12 from you today. |
I’m committed to relying on the conservatives who believe in our values most, not the donor with the biggest check. While that may make me unpopular in Washington, I hope that earns your respect and your donation today. Thank you, Derrick Van Orden Retired Navy SEAL Senior Chief |
