Dear beloved RG Community,
Our hearts continue to break over the violence and deaths in Gaza. The past 73 days have shown us that there is no military solution in Gaza, and that the global majority, including 75% of countries that make up the UN, are calling for a ceasefire [[link removed]] . Right now the US is demonstrating we are more committed to militarism and war than peace and justice. Those of us who are citizens of this country are complicit, and we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to act.
Right now, RG’s Executive Director Yahya Alazrak was arrested in DC, alongside over 60 leaders of progressive organizations in the US. They are doing so to demand that the US government do everything in its power to accomplish a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and for the Senate to vote NO on the $14.5 billion of America military aid to Israel in the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act. We stand by Yahya in representing RG at this action, as we stand by all those who have brought their bodies and their values to the streets over the last few months calling for ceasefire.
So many of you have already been taking action to call for a permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation, with your connections to politicians, your family philanthropies, your bodies in the street. Anti-Zionist Jewish members within RG have offered tremendous leadership in RG and in other organizations over the past two months, and Palestinian organizations on the ground and in the US are showing us the way forward. We’re writing to encourage and support you to keep going – to resist despair and complacency, and to stay grounded in your knowledge of what is right and just. Biden and US officials are feeling the pressure of grassroots movements calling for a permanent ceasefire and an end to military aid for Isreal, but are not moving quickly enough to stop the genocide.

What RG is consistently hearing from partners and funders supporting Palestinian liberation is that funding has been sluggish or nonexistent. Many donors and funders are either slow to move or unwilling to give to Palestinian causes, and many groups are struggling to raise additional funds during this time in order to enable humanitarian aid as well as critical organizing and advocacy pushing for ceasefire. If you would like to learn more about the impact of Zionism on philanthropy, please take the time to watch RG’s webinar on the topic [[link removed]] from a few years ago, or read this report on philanthropy and the Palestinian freedom movement [[link removed]] from Solidaire Action. We are proud of RG members for consistently showing up boldly and bucking stagnant donor trends in moments of crisis. We encourage you to give alongside the participants at RG’s annual conference Making Money Make Change, who pledged over $100K to our close partner Grassroot International’s Emergency Fund for Palestine [[link removed]] .
We’re here to support you to take the following actions:
Join organizations to plan actions - Here are some of the organizations we’ve seen RG chapters mobilizing with, who have ongoing action opportunities and onboarding to plug in:

In addition to contacting U.S. House and Senate members, there is a particular need to reach and impact key players in the Biden Administration, and also House Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries. If you have the ability to reach out to members of the Biden Administration or Hakeem Jeffries through personal connections, please contact [email protected] [[email protected]] directly ASAP and I will get you one-on-one support from movement leaders.
Divest
RG is planning a two-part divestment workshop tentatively titled Embodied Divestment for a Ceasefire , for those who want to divest their money away from markets that fund war and into movements for liberation. This series will include technical information about how to learn more about your investments and move them into greater alignment with your values, as well as somatic exercises to process our collective complicity in the war machine. This workshop will be happening in January and February. If you are interested in joining, please fill out this interest form. [[link removed]]
