This past weekend, disgraced former President Donald Trump made some sickening comments: stating that immigrants are "poisoning the blood" of our nation.
This kind of white supremacist rhetoric is not just an attack on immigrants, it's an assault on the idea of a free and diverse nation that welcomes everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion.
As a Marine Corps veteran who has served in battle stations worldwide, I've seen firsthand the consequences of autocratic leaders stoking hate to gain power. It erodes the bonds that hold us together and often, tragically, results in violence and loss of life.
It's deeply troubling that none of my opponents in the Republican primary for Colorado's 4th Congressional District have spoken out against these remarks. In fact, most of them wholeheartedly agree with Trump and support this program.
Now, more than ever, we need leaders who will unequivocally denounce hate and work towards healing our divided nation.
We can't afford to let toxic rhetoric from people like Trump define our nation today, or in the future. We can’t allow politicians who peddle bigotry to win and continue stoking violence between neighbors.
Thank you for your support.
