For Immediate Release
The Ottawa County Selection Committee has chosen current Chief Deputy Treasurer and Former Robinson Township Treasurer Cheryl Clark to serve as the next Ottawa County Treasurer. Mrs. Clark has over twenty-three years of experience in the County Treasurer's Office, as well as nine years of experience as the Treasurer of Robinson Township. Clark will assume the duties of the office on January 1, 2024, upon the retirement of current Treasurer Amanda Price. Mrs. Price has served as County Treasurer since 2018, and previously as State Representative in the 89th District and as Park Township Supervisor.
"Chief Deputy Clark stood out in a field of really great candidates," said Justin Roebuck, Chair of the Selection Committee. "We were fortunate to be considering several well-qualified individuals for this position, and Cheryl rose to the top of this list due to her extensive experience and knowledge of leading the Treasurer's Office for the past 15 years, combined with her background as a local elected official who understands the needs of the municipal treasurers in Ottawa County."
Cheryl Clark has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Cornerstone University and has had an extensive career in public finance and accounting, including serving as a technician with Ottawa County Equalization, serving two terms as the Robinson Township Treasurer, and serving as Chief Deputy County Treasurer since 2008. She has multiple professional accreditations, including certification as an Advanced Public Funds Investment Manager from the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada, and certificate of completion from the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Institute.
"I am deeply grateful to the Ottawa County Selection Committee for appointing me as Treasurer," said Clark. "I am eager to put my extensive experience and education to work. As Treasurer, I am committed to upholding the County's tradition of integrity, fiscal responsibility and service to our residents."
The County Selection Committee is required by statute to appoint the County Treasurer in the case of a vacancy, and Chief Deputy Clark will complete the remaining year of Mrs. Price's term, expiring December 31, 2024. The Selection Committee consists of Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney Lee Fisher, Chief Judge of Probate Mark Feyen, and Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck. The office of Treasurer will appear on the ballot in 2024 and will be elected to serve a four-year term.
