Public consultation launched on budget proposals

Budget consultation

The council has today officially launched a formal consultation period on draft proposals put forward by officers to close a ?50m funding gap in 2024/25.

Councillors on the Executive Board met this afternoon to discuss plans to make the savings needed to balance our budget next year, which is a legal requirement for all local authorities.

Like all councils, we are facing huge pressure on our finances because of the increased demand on children?s and adults? social care, as well as rising homelessness nationally ? this currently accounts for around two-thirds of our overall budget in Nottingham.

However, before any final decisions are taken in the New Year, we want to hear your views about the proposals being put forward. There are a number of ways to take part in the four-week consultation, including online here, or you can join us at a series of engagement events.

The first of these will be held at the Council House tomorrow (Wednesday 20) from 5.30pm to 7pm where senior officers and councillors will be on hand to answer questions. There is no need to book or register ? just turn up on the day. We look forward to seeing you.
