John -
Scientists are virtually certain that 2023 was the hottest year on record.
2023 is also a year when the fossil fuel industry earned billions of dollars by expanding pipeline projects around the world — all at the expense of our air, our water, and our planet.
The fight for our planet comes down to how quickly our climate movement can stop the fossil fuel industry — and as a member of our movement, we are so grateful to have you by our side.
We have HUGE plans for 2024 to stop pipelines all over the globe and build iconic climate campaigns that replace fossil fuels with renewable energy. But there's no more time to waste, John:
Something else extremely important happened in 2023:
Our climate movement made MAJOR progress in stopping huge fossil fuel projects. We successfully pushed financial institutions to defund the East African Crude Oil Pipeline. We delayed construction on the Mountain Valley Pipeline in Appalachia. We organized a global day of action focused on powering up renewable energy solutions. And we won significant policy developments in support of a renewable energy future in Canada.
2024 is going to be one of the most important years in the fight against the fossil fuel industry.
Fossil fuel companies all over the planet are rushing to complete their disastrous projects before climate activists like us stop them.
As I write this email, 8,584 miles of pipeline are under construction in North America and more than 10,000 miles of pipeline are planned. But with your support today, 2024 will be the year that we stop them:
The fossil fuel industry would love nothing more than for us to give up hope for a safe and habitable planet. But we know that there is still so much left to fight for. Together, we can make 2024 the year we safeguard our planet and future.
Thank you for helping make a brighter future possible.
In solidarity,
May Boeve
